2026 Soo MI Film Festival Announces Selections; Venue Change

Soo Film Festival announces its selection of films for 2026, a mix of features, shorts, music videos, and animation. The festival focuses on Great Lakes films and filmmakers, but entry was open worldwide. Soo Film Festival takes place September 16-20 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan at Bayliss Public Library, a Superior District Library, and, for the first time, at the Lake Superior State University Arts Center. Featured selections will screen at the library September 16 and 17 for free, all programs at LSSU Arts Center are ticketed. Dates and venues are subject to change.
Festival president Jason Markstrom: “We have a fantastic lineup of films for 2026 and we are looking forward to another great weekend watching them with our friends. We are grateful the LSSU Arts Center was able to accommodate us this year to ensure we would have that great weekend.”
LSSU Arts Center Director Noah Lucé: ”We’re thrilled to welcome The Soo Film Festival to the Lake Superior State University Arts Center this fall and to partner with an organization that celebrates the power of storytelling through film. Bringing the festival to our campus creates an exciting opportunity to connect our students and community with outstanding independent cinema.”

Festival passes and individual tickets will be sold online and at the door. Ticket prices are $7 General Admission (per block), $5 Seniors and Students (per block); $20 Daily Pass (admission to all blocks on a single day); $50 Festival Pass (admission to all films and shorts programs, all days). Films screened at Bayliss Library are free of charge.
