A New Link & Breton House – The Superior View Lisa Tucker
Breton House has been doing important work in Sault Ste. Marie since 1986. In 2013 they were able to add A New Link, a program that supports expectant mothers, and mothers and their children. Lisa has counsellor Cali Bouffard in the studio for a detailed conversation on the program and what it is Breton House offers.
Mission: A New Link strives to improve the health and well being of pregnant and parenting women who have substance use issues.
Philosophy: A New Link believes that women have the right to individualized treatment, which respects their personal goals, including abstinence and harm reduction
Goal: The goal of A New Link is to support pregnant and parenting women and their families affected by substance use and their families, to improve parenting, and to influence a decrease in the harmful effects of alcohol and drug use on children. Every effort will be made to help reduce barriers for women so they may receive help to address their substance use issues.
Referrals: Women may be referred from a variety of agencies, doctors, hospitals, family members, friends or they may be self-referred. We will work in partnership with other community services in order to best meet the needs of women and their families.
