Station Mall and Algoma Food Security Network Now Accepting Teams for CANstruction 2025

Station Mall and the Algoma Food Security Network (AFSN) are inviting community-minded groups to enter CANstruction 2025, the region’s most creative food-drive competition. Teams of 10 to 12 people will design and build large-scale sculptures made entirely from canned and other non-perishable foods. When the exhibition ends, every item will be donated to AFSN member agencies: Harvest Algoma, Salvation Army, the Soup Kitchen Community Centre, and St. Vincent’s Place.

DATES TO REMEMBER
Team registration deadline: Friday, September 5th 2025
Build weekend: Saturday–Sunday, October 4–5 2025
Judging and awards: Monday, October 6th 2025

Who Can Enter
We welcome teams from businesses, community organizations, schools and student groups, contractors, designers, architects, and engineers. Creativity and community spirit matter more than building experience.
Why Join CANstruction
· Fight Hunger Creatively: Every can stacked becomes a meal for neighbours facing food insecurity.
· Showcase Talent and Teamwork: Sculptures will be displayed to thousands of mall visitors and featured in local media.
· Friendly Competition: Awards include Best Original Design, Most Cans, and People’s Choice.

How to Enter

Deliver your food to the Station Mall loading dock on October 1 or 2, then build your sculpture on October 4 and 5.
