Episode 7: Jay Hamilton
Scott Lake Lodge, Saskatchewan
Jason Hamilton, general manager at Scott Lake Lodge, is the person who makes things happen around here. Jay was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and still gets back there to fish for steelhead every spring, but his home now, like a few other Scott Lakers, is the small Saskatchewan town of White Fox. His life has always revolved around hunting and fishing and from his home in White Fox he can watch moose, elk, whitetails and even wolves from his back window. He is also close to his beloved Tobin Lake where huge walleye and pike can be pulled through the ice if one knows how. Jason does. His knowledge of wildlife is more than casual. He has a master’s degree from the University of Waterloo in Animal Physiology. He spent seven years working for the Ontario Department of Natural Resources and the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans. His work there primarily involved tagging marine mammals, as in polar bears, whales and walrus. Jason may be the only person in the world who has given a right hook to the face of a polar bear as it shook off the effects of a tranquilizer a bit too quickly. Both the bear and Jason came out of that battle in one piece. Scott Lake Lodge offers a luxury fly-in fishing experience unlike anywhere else. Visit Scott Lake for trophy Northern Pike, Lake Trout, & Arctic Grayling.
