In July and August 2026, the Sault Community Theatre Centre (SCTC) will launch a brand new series of Summer Children’s Theatre Camps, offering creative and engaging programming for a range of ages. The program will include three one-week camps for children ages 9 to 12, as well as a two-week intensive performance camp for youth ages 9 to 14, all focused on building skills in acting, movement, voice, and creative performance. Alongside hands-on theatre training, campers will enjoy games, collaborative activities, and ensemble-based creation, all guided by emerging and working performing artists from Sault Ste. Marie.
The one-week camps run Monday to Friday and are designed as standalone experiences, each with its own creative theme and final showcase. These camps emphasize exploration, confidence-building, and collaboration through daily workshops and theatre games, making them ideal for both first-time participants and returning campers. The two-week intensive performance camp offers a more immersive experience, bringing participants together to rehearse and present a fully staged youth production in a professional theatre setting. The program is built to allow children and youth to attend one week, several weeks, or the entire summer, with each week offering a distinct artistic focus and creative outcome.
This camp series marks the first time the Sault Community Theatre Centre has offered youth summer day camps since before the COVID-19 pandemic and will be the largest performing-arts-focused day camp of its kind in the Algoma region. Modelled on successful programs across Ontario and shaped by SCTC’s strong community-focused perspective, the camps launch alongside the organization’s new five-year strategic plan, which prioritizes expanded programming and positions SCTC as a true community hub with opportunities for people of all ages.
Registration for the 2026 SCTC Summer Camps will open on March 2nd and will be facilitated through the SCTC Box Office, located in the Station Mall, or online at www.saultctc.ca. Spaces are limited, and families are encouraged to register early to secure a spot.
A brief audition or readiness assessment will be required only for the two-week intensive camp, to ensure participants are prepared for the focused, rehearsal-driven nature of the program.
