The SSM ART HUB At Spring Gallery & Studios in association with The Borderline Events Co. are pleased to announce HUB OF THE GREAT LAKES Art Show & Gathering, a juried exhibition of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma artists. Accepted work will be exhibited at TWIST GALLERY, in Toronto, from May 1 to 30, 2026.

REGISTRATION: HUB OF THE GREAT LAKES Art Show & Gathering 2026

A juried art exhibition to give Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma artists and creatives the opportunity to display and sell their work in a prestigious Toronto gallery.

Online: Register and attach images of your artwork by email to info@theborderline.ca. You’ll be notified via email of your acceptance for review to the exhibition.

Entry Submission – Each artist is required to register and provide jpg images of artwork being entered into the exhibit by 31/12/25. Any portion of the entry package with a later date will disqualify the entry.

Submitting Entries – Registration opens on November 17, 2025. The artist may submit up to 3 works of art. Submission is free.

Entry Requirements – Entry is open to all artists and all ages who are current or past residents of Sault Ste. Marie or Algoma. All work submitted must be made available for sale.

Accepted Media – Fine art media for this exhibition includes: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, fiber arts and collage subject to the following criteria:

  • Work must be original and created by the submitting artist.
  • Pieces must be mounted by wire and protrude no more than 4” from wall.
  • Photography pieces may be modified by digital processes or in the “dark room” with all modifications completed by the artist.
  • Artwork requiring installation or placement by the artist will not be allowed.
  • Twist Gallery may refuse any artwork deemed inappropriate, offensive or improperly presented.
  • Insurance is provided for artists’ work by Twist Gallery during the HUB OF THE GREAT LAKES Art Show & Gathering 2026.

Criteria for JPG Images – All entries will be juried for acceptance from the jpg images submitted. The jpg images must follow the following criteria:

  • Dimension between 960-4600 pixels. Maximum file size 4 mb.
  • Resolution 300 pixels per inch.
  • Orientation reflects the actual artwork.
  • One image for each piece.
  • Images pieces should show only the artwork without any frame or mat.
  • File name corresponds to the title of the artwork depicted.
  • File name to include title of piece and artist name.

Notification by email to artist from Art Hub At Spring Gallery & Studios upon receiving entry submission.

ACCEPTED ART FOR HUB OF THE GREAT LAKES Art Show & Gathering 2026

Notification of accepted work on or about April 5, 2026. You’ll be notified via email of your inclusion to the exhibition.

Requirements for Accepted Work

  • Artwork not to exceed 60” x 60” (including frame if applicable). Artwork ready to hang by wire and/or D-Hooks or eyehooks. Wire ends must be taped. No saw-tooth hangers or other hanging methods. Framed pieces must have a relatively simple frame.
  • Pieces requiring protection (watercolors, pastels, etc.) should use plexi-glass. Glass may be used on smaller pieces at the artist’s risk.
  • Gallery-wrapped canvasses accepted provided that they are 3/4“ or greater in thickness with edges neatly finished. Total weight (including frame, mat, plexi-glass, etc.) not to exceed 25 pounds in weight.

All artists who have work accepted must provide a short, SINGLE PAGE BIO which will be used in the catalog for the exhibit. This bio should be sent via email to info@theborderline.ca by April 10, 2026.

Sales and Commissions

Only if your work is selected, a paid exhibition fee applies. This $50 fee per accepted piece helps cover venue and promotional costs and ensures your art reaches a Toronto audience. The $50 fee will be collected via e-transfer upon notification that your art has been selected for show. If a piece is sold during the exhibition the fee will be reimbursed.

  • It is the artist’s responsibility to value each piece submitted and put that amount on the registration form.
  • Neither Twist Gallery or ART HUB At Spring can or will guarantee art sales.
  • All art sold at the exhibition will pay the artist 50% of sales price pre-tax. Prevailing sales taxes are the responsibility of the artist and will not be collected by Twist Gallery. Payment for work sold will be sent to the artist within 30 days of the end of the exhibition.

Requirements for Exhibited Work

  • Artists are obligated to provide their work for the duration of the exhibition. Accepted work that is not delivered or is withdrawn by the artist may prevent that artist’s eligibility for future exhibitions.
  • The artist will pay 30% of the listed price to Twist Gallery for any withdrawn exhibited pieces.
  • Photographs of accepted work may be used in the catalog and for promotional materials sent out by ART HUB At Spring Gallery & Studios.
  • The juror has final authority on works selected.
  • All accepted work must have a legible identification label on the back of the work.

Shipment and Delivery of Accepted Work to the Gallery

  • Accepted work may be hand delivered or shipped to ART HUB At Spring Gallery & Studios by 5:00 pm on April 24, 2026.
  • Pieces must be boxed and protected by padding and/or bubble wrap that can be stored and reused when artwork is returned to artist.
  • No loose packing material (styrofoam ‘’peanuts,” organic material, etc.) may be used. Any piece received with loose packing material will be immediately returned to the artist and the work will be disqualified.
  • If not being physically delivered then artists must call ART HUB At Spring (705-949-0505) to notify that their work is being shipped and will need return shipping. ART HUB At Spring will receive shipped artwork only if the artist provides prepaid return postage and arrangements have been made for the carrier to pick up at ART HUB At Spring. If a piece is received without prepaid shipping information, the artist will be notified that the work may be disqualified.
  • The artist will be given one week to forward prepaid shipping documentation to ART HUB At Spring. If the documentation is not received, the work will be disqualified and become the property of ART HUB At Spring.
  • If the piece is damaged during shipping, the artist will be notified as to the extent of the damage and will have the following options:
    –If the damage can be quickly repairable and if the artist agrees to pay for the repair, the work will be taken to a local professional for the work required.
    –If the damage is not quickly repairable, the work will be returned to the artist using the pre-paid shipping documentation previously provided.
    –It will be the artist’s responsibility to recover any fees for damage from the shipping company.
  • Shipped pieces must be sent to:

  • TRACKING INFORMATION MUST BE PROVIDED TO ART HUB AT SPRING.

Return of Exhibited Work to Artist

  • Unsold artwork that was hand-delivered ready for pick-up at ART HUB At Spring. Unsold art must be picked up by the artist between June 3 -12, 2026.
  • Other than pieces which have been prepaid for return to an artist, pieces which have not been claimed and picked up by 5:00 PM June 12, 2026 will become the property of ART HUB At Spring and will be sold or discarded by the organization.

Juror – Nadia Kakridonis
Born and raised in the heart of West Queen West, Nadia Kakridonis has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. After graduating from Humber College with a background in advertising and graphic design. In February 2010, she founded Twist Gallery, transforming it into a vibrant hub for art, culture, and unforgettable events. Since its inception, Nadia has curated and hosted over 150 exhibitions and events, shaping Twist Gallery into one of Queen West’s most sought-after venues for art showcases and special gatherings.

ART HUB At Spring Gallery & Studios – Our mission is to bring local and area art and artist recognition to the city of Sault Ste. Marie, ON. ART HUB At Spring Gallery & Studios exhibits monthly art shows featuring original works by local artists. There are ten art studios and an event space available for rent, as well as a salon of regional art available for sale.
