Cold blooded, warm hearted.

Quality captive-bred animals, expert care advice, and everything you need to build the perfect enclosure. The mom & pop reptile room is a reptile experience. Living with so many reptiles is a life of love.

As a teen, Ernie Rowntree worked at PJ Pets in the Eglington Square pet shop, which was the largest pet shop in Toronto at the time. After realizing just how pet stores operate Ernie chose to switch to The Endangered Animal Sanctuary on Mill Wood Rd, remaining there throughout school. After graduating high school Ernie then worked at York University and continued to work there for over 12 years as an Animal Lab Tech while studying Psychology and Biology. During his studies and work at York University he contributed to many Masters and Doctorate Theses, publishing papers in both fields. Now with a heart condition and many other old parts, he is continuing the fun that brings reptile keepers and hobbyists together through the work he does with the The Mom & Pop reptile room. It is Ernie’s life’s passion.

Ruth, co-owner, is the mother of all moms. She’ll take everything and anyone in no matter who or what they are. Any time of day, any holiday, any creature, Ruth is the caregiver for all of our creatures making sure they all feel like they’re loved, cared for, safe, and in their best home. In sickness and health, she hand feeds the weak, nurtures the anxious, and keeps everyone company.

Reptiles Are Our Life

Eden’s Reptiles isn’t a big box store; It’s our home, our passion, and our family. Every animal in our care is handled daily, fed well, and loved before it ever finds a new home.

When you reach out to us, you’re talking to the people who actually live with these animals, not a customer service rep. That’s the mom & pop difference.
