VIVID Art Fest Sault Ste. Marie 2025, starting on September 21st, features the creation of large-scale public art combined with musical performances and professionally-led community programming that celebrates this powerful location as a meeting ground. VIVID looks to the future of what we can become.
Among this years’ artists is international muralist César de Barros Amorim, better known as Mutes. Mutes will be painting in the alleyway off Brock St. leading into the Downtown Plaza.

MUTES (César de Barros Amorim) was born in France, Margny Les Compiegne, in 1976. He returned to Portugal in 1986 and currently resides in Arcos de Valdevez. He is a self-taught painter, known for his DesCubismo Contourismo style. He has exhibited regularly since 2004. He is represented in several national and international collections; he is a Cubist. He has had over 250 exhibitions, both collective and solo, nationally and internationally, and has collaborated with the Dadaist Movement “Maintenant” in the USA and New York since 2018. He owns a line of glasses through Other Worlds Brewing in Florida and Miami, created a line of sneakers with All Star in 2016 for Brazil, and has designed several album covers for Portuguese musicians, book covers for various authors, large-scale murals, and some musical instruments. He is responsible for the quadrennial Arcoz’Arte exhibition and has curated numerous exhibitions since 2012. In 2016, he won the Art Prize Picasso at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. In 2017, he received an Honorable Mention at the Brick Lane Gallery in London, and in 2021, he won a Creativity Medal at the Von Zeidler Art Gallery in Berlin, among many other achievements in the art world.

É pintor autodidata, conhecido pelo seu DesCubismo Contornismo. Expõe com regularidade desde 2004. Está representado em diversas coleções nacionais e estrangeira, é Cubista. Já ultrapassou as 250 exposições, colectivas e individuais, nacionais e internacionais, colabora desde 2018 com o Movimento Dadaísta “Maintenant” nos EUA, em Nova Iorque. É detentor de uma linha de copos através da Other Worlds Brewing, na Flórida, em Miami, criou uma linha de sapatilhas com a All Star em 2016 para o Brasil, faz várias capas de álbuns de músicos portuguesas, capas de livros de vários escritores, murais de grandes dimensões, e alguns instrumentos musicais. È o responsável pela exposição quadrienal Arcoz`Arte, faz curadoria em variadas exposições desde 2012. Em 2016 ganha o prémio Art Prize Picasso no Carrousel du Louvre em Paris. Em 2017 ganha uma Menção Honrosa na Brick Lane Gallery em Londres, em 2021 ganha uma medalha de criatividade na Von Zeidler Art Gallery em Berlim, entre muitos e muitos outros feitos no mundo da Arte.
