Skye Smith & Emma Hogg – La Nonna é Qui & Between Heartbeats

Skye Smith… My Nonna, the matriarch of my family. When I developed La Nonna é Qui in 2022, I was still grieving. It was the pandemic, and grieving her was lonely. I couldn’t be around family (remember lockdowns? I don’t want to either) and so I tried to embody her. I put two teaspoons of sugar in my coffee, I made her bolognese, I fed my babies and went for long walks.After a deep chat with my mom, I decided to morph this lonely grieving process into art.Four years later, I get to reassemble this piece in celebration. I’ve found so much stillness and joy in intending to be a Nonna.
