Dr. Graham Elder

Dr. Graham Elder runs a surgical practice in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. While his wife was away on a trip early during the Covid-19 pandemic, Graham was inspired to write a fictional account about the strange times that were happening. Using his medical training and education the doctor turned author penned a novella and then followed that up with another one. Graham has plans for one more, maybe even two, on the subject.

Covid Odyssey – A race against time to bring the cure for a deadly virus to a dying spouse. Although the COVID-19 pandemic is ravaging the world, Mark Spencer’s small town in Northern Ontario is largely unaffected other than being in lockdown and preparing for the potential onslaught. When his wife, Sarah, decides to attend a conference in Florida, she becomes deathly ill and is admitted to a local hospital with minimal resources to treat Covid patients. With time running out, Mark concocts a plan to bring her an experimental anti-viral drug that might save her life. He must first, however, get across the border and travel 2000 km through a pandemic American landscape. Along his journey, he encounters a variety of unusual characters that bring into question the very foundation of his scientific beliefs. Will Mark arrive at the hospital in time to save his wife? No matter what, Mark’s life will be forever changed by his Covid Odyssey.

Second Wave – A physician’s harrowing intercontinental journey to uncover a dying father’s potential cure for Covid-19. Dr. Mark Spencer’s life has finally returned to some degree of pandemic normalcy when he receives a heart-breaking phone call from his mother, who lives in England. His estranged father, a well-known virologist, has Covid and is being admitted to hospital. That same day, a letter arrives in the mailbox claiming that his father has discovered a cure for Covid-19, but that, for reasons unclear, Mark must go to England to retrieve it. Deciding that the possibility of a cure outweighs all else, Mark embarks on a gut-wrenching transatlantic trek that will ultimately push his resilience to the very limit.
