James Smedley was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, so the outdoors lifestyle is second nature to him. In getting hooked on fishing and hunting, James always took in the beauty of the surroundings, and so a camera became part of the gear.

James is an award winning photographer whose images are used in international advertising campaigns and editorials. With a large collection of Stock Images and a brisk Assignment Photography schedule, Smedley provides clients with images that work.

James Smedley can shoot indoors, on the water or underground but his best work is in the great outdoors where he uses the mercurial and varying conditions of the natural world to create striking images that inspire.

At least 1000 images and hundreds of written pieces published in U.S. and Canadian books, magazines, newspapers and websites have earned James over 60 National and International awards. In addition to teaching photography workshops, James is Travel Editor at Ontario OUT OF DOORS Magazine. He lives in the Northern Ontario town of Wawa with his wife Francine and daughters Islay and Lillian.
