Words often elude me. In their place I find an inventory of shapes and colour combinations which become my means of communication. With this language I tell stories and document my experiences.
Present in both my life and art is the contrast of organic and geometric, a quest for the perfect balance. It is through painting and engaging with the materials that I am able to seek this unity. Through thought, observation, intuition, and response I can explore myself and further develop my own language.

MICHAEL DEVONI

I employ art history, or play with it, in producing work. Recycled images from magazines and books, comics and textbooks are jam-packed with potential. I make a practice of using mundane – the everyday objects out there in the world, not the exotic, along with the discarded, the throwaways, industrial castaways and someone else’s trash (e.g. broken toys, beer caps, discarded packaging, car tires, glass bottles.)
