The Saddler’s Post – Hamish Lamley Christian Lowe
Hamish Lamley sees leatherwork as a connection to the past. It is his way to solve problems as our ancestors did, to work at his own own pace and see the world as they did. As he explores early Medieval leatherworking methods and tools alongside their contemporary counterparts, Hamish dedicates his time to the same techniques that leather craftsmen have used for thousands of years.
It is his passion to recreate ancient Pictish artwork from the stone carvings and jewellery, bringing the old medium back to life in leather, and to research and produce historic replicas based on archaeological finds.
Pictavia Leather is owned and run by Hamish Lamley, based in Perthshire, the heart of Scotland. All leather products are designed and made by Hamish and his apprentices.
A unique blend of soap, oils, beeswax and the wonderful properties of tea tree prepared in small batches in our studio located in Southern Ontario.
