Rocker Serge Tremblay riffs on his ongoing ‘Glory Days’ gig, getting on-stage with Mighty Max Weinberg, and where it all started in his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, in this talk with an avid Springsteen fan.
Serge Tremblay was in his teens when playing guitar in a rock band became his passion, cutting his teeth in the local bars of Sault Ste. Marie, where he grew up. When the city’s job market suffered in the early 80’s, that precipitated a move to Toronto. Tremblay took to playing the club circuit there as a member in several groups, getting serious with bands, Fall From Grace and then with Sonny Boy Mick, before the Glory Days project took flight.
A unique six-piece ensemble, Glory Days is a tribute to an American musical icon — one of the greatest rock singer/songwriters of our time — Bruce Springsteen. The band’s lineup is exclusively composed of experienced concert musicians able to recreate the classic songs and performances that were, and still are, Springsteen’s trademark.
Glory Days delivers an arena rock-show experience unlike any other, exposing a younger generation to an artist and poet among the most influential in rock history.
Since launching his tribute to Bruce Springsteen over 10 years ago, Tremblay, a “musician’s musician,” has become a sort of “working-class hero” in his new hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario. Fans who have never seen a Springsteen show sell out clubs and festivals to see Glory Days perform. And those who have seen Springsteen in concert, marvel at the eerie similarity of Tremblay’s high energy show.
